Cheeky Cheeky Johann

I just discovered the video function on my handphone today. Was so amused by it that I began taking videos of my beloved little Johann. Here's one of him being ever so cheeky, talking to Mummy...

(Notice how the video is taken sideways... haha... very amateurish, I must admit.)

Changed look

Time really flies and my precious boy is 3 weeks old! Look how much he has changed. It tickles me to see his naturally standing hair. His Uncle Badrul actually uses tons of hair wax and time to get the same look! haha

First visit to KK

Overdued Medical Check-up
I had gone for my check up at Dr Ooi's in the morning. The clinic assistants asked if I had brought Johann for a follow up check after discharge. Not having done so (nobody told us we had to do so), I was concerned and a little worried. I went to the PD clinic that was recommended just down the hall from Dr Ooi's. Hubby and I didn't like the service there. The clinic seemed too cold and child unfriendly! We decided to ask around and look for alternatives. Recommended by Auntie Jacqueline, we decided to bring Johann to the Private Children's Clinic at KKH.

When we reached PCC, we were advised to go to A&E. This was because we had no prior appointment thus the waiting would take forever. We got Johann registered at A&E and got him checked out for jaundice and also his development so far. At the same time, Daddy and Mummy kept asking the doctor questions just to make sure everything was alright. We were relieved when Johann was said to be doing well.

Officially a Singaporean

12 April 2008

Before Johann was born, we had already decided on his name (Johann Mikail Loh) but we put off registering his birth as we were still contemplating as to whether we should include his Chinese name in his BC. Furthermore, we were still searching for a Chinese name for him. With Daddy's and Mummy's fantastic proficiency in the language, it's not a surprise that we needed more time and help. We only knew we wanted it to be a single Chinese character (for ease of remembering and writing). Haha.
Seeking advice from Daddy's family and Mummy's colleagues, we decided on Bin for his Chinese name.
So, with Johann Mikail Loh Bin as the decided name, Daddy was off to ICA to register our son's birth.

Tired Little Johann

My tired little Johann after his feed...

"Watch me!"

In the afternoon, Uncle Kai Guan and Auntie Wendy came to visit.
Little Johann was asleep after his feed. Uncle Kai Guan and Auntie Wendy went inside to look at Johann fast asleep in his cot. The interesting thing was, Johann actually smiled when Uncle Kai Guan said "Watch me." We thought it was pure coincidence but Johann smiled again when Uncle Kai Guan said it again. In total, Uncle Kai Guan said it three times and Johann smiled three times. Guess it's really true that they say babies remember what they have heard when in mummy's tummy because Johann sure heard plenty of "Watch me" when in Mummy's tummy (",)

Holding his milk bottle

10 April 2008
Johann held his milk bottle today during feeding. Excited Mummy fished out her handphone and snapped pictures. Pictures were sent to Daddy who was at work immediately.

Figuring out Johann

9 April 2008

It's really not easy trying to understand someone who can only cry...
One moment he can be okie...

The next moment he'll be crying...

Guess we really need time to figure this little fella out...

Johann's First Day...

4 April 2008
During the check up at Dr Ooi's in the morning, there was concern that our little fella (41 weeks) was not showing signs that he was going to come out of Mummy's tummy. He was getting a little too comfy in Mummy's tummy.
Mummy was sent for an x-ray and it was found that mummy's birth canal was too small for our darling boy. Dr Ooi dropped us the bombshell that he was going to help us get our boy out - through caesarean section. That very afternoon! In his own words, "You're going to be parents, today." AS you can imagine, we were dumbfounded.
Joanne (clinic assistant) tried making the necessary arrangements but she couldn't book an operating theatre. So, she did the next best thing. We were booked to go for c-section the next morning at 8 a.m.
5 April 2008
We arrived at Mount Elizabeth Hospital at 6.00 a.m. in the morning. We were checked in and showed our room at about 6.30 a.m. It was quite nerve wrecking (for Mummy) but exciting, waiting for what would lead us to the birth of our son!
At about 6.40 a.m, a nurse came and prepared Mummy for the op.
By 7.20 a.m., Mummy was wheeled to the operating theatre.
It was scary in the operating theatre as the anaesthesist inserted the epidural with so many strangers in the room. I was so relieved when I finally saw Serene (Dr Ooi's staff nurse). Finally, someone I know. Soon, my Hubby came to join me, all decked in hospital robes.
Dr Ooi came in at 8.00a.m.
After initial checks, Dr Ooi decided that the epidural was not working for me. I needed to go under G A for the op. Hubby had to leave the operating theatre.
I was on my own.
The anaethesist injected the G A and within seconds, I was asleep.
At 8.27 am, our son was born!
